Terra Natura Benidorm Embraces Solar Energy with a 1,000 kW Photovoltaic Plant

Terra Natura Benidorm has taken a major step toward sustainability by commissioning a 1,000 kW solar photovoltaic plant. This new solar installation will supply a large portion of the park’s daily energy needs using clean, renewable power. The project reinforces the park’s long-term commitment to sustainability, innovation, and environmental protection.

Technology at the Service of the Environment

The solar installation, developed by Grupotec, consists of 1,797 solar panels covering a total area of 4,700 square meters. Of this, 3,500 m² are located in the parking area, providing shaded parking for visitors, while 1,200 m² are installed on the rooftops of various park buildings.

With an annual power capacity of 1 MW, the system will help reduce more than 500 tons of CO₂ emissions every year, significantly cutting Terra Natura’s carbon footprint.

The total investment exceeds €700,000, co-financed through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Generalitat Valenciana. This initiative forms part of the regional policy to promote renewable energy adoption and reduce environmental impact.

Corporate Commitment to a Greener Future

This solar project is part of the sustainability strategy of Grupo Fuertes, the parent company of Terra Natura Benidorm. Grupo Fuertes places energy efficiency, technological innovation, and environmental responsibility at the heart of its operations.

“Thanks to this project, we are taking another step toward a greener future. At Terra Natura, we aim to be a benchmark in conservation, education, and sustainable leisure,” said Luis Perea, director of Terra Natura and Aqua Natura Benidorm.

By generating clean energy onsite, the park not only reduces its dependence on traditional electricity but also educates visitors about renewable energy and sustainability in action.

A Model of Public-Private Collaboration

The installation highlights the success of a public-private partnership model. The collaboration involved:

  • The Generalitat Valenciana, which supported the project through its renewable energy funding program.

  • Grupotec, a leading solar engineering company responsible for the technical design and installation.

  • Terra Natura Benidorm, a tourism and leisure park committed to integrating sustainability into its business operations.

This partnership ensures a positive environmental, social, and economic impact, positioning Terra Natura Benidorm as a leader in sustainable tourism and energy efficiency.

The 1,000 kW solar plant at Terra Natura Benidorm is more than an energy project—it’s a commitment to a cleaner and greener planet. By embracing renewable energy, the park continues to inspire visitors and other organizations to follow its example in the global transition toward sustainability.
